&lt;p&gt;The dog was very sick, and if you look carefully you&#039;ll notice he has a big swollen hind leg. His name was John and he belonged to my host parents in Nebraska. He was so sick and old there, that they wanted to put him down, but I thought that was too cruel and convinced them not to. I fed him good food and brought him water for a week or so, and he became better, and lived for more than another year!&lt;/p&gt;
